Calf Rearing
General Rearing Hints
From the first week, give enough roughhage and fresh water.
Keep age groups together. Young and old apart.
Prevent high infection pressure by strict hygiene, low living density, fresh air and low dampness.
Weaning
When the calf's feed intake is enough per day and it has picked up enough weight (80kg at +-6weeks) the calf can be gradually weaned. Do it, by giving the calf milk once a day for a week and keep an eye on the calf's weight and condition for this duration.
